1-on-1 Book Coaching

  • Are you writing a children’s book?

  • Have an outline and now you need to turn it into a book?

  • Started a draft and don’t know where to go with it?

  • Close to the end but you can’t see your way there?

  • Are you finding what’s written on the page doesn’t match the vision in your head?

  • Are you just plain stuck?

This personalized coaching program will help you set aside your fears, develop better writing habits, focus on the work, and get that draft written or revised—all while becoming a stronger writer!

I am a certified Author Accelerator Book Coach with extensive training. I’ll guide you through the book-writing process from start to finish. Work 1-on-1 with me to outline, write, or revise your middle grade (MG) or young adult (YA) manuscript.

FOUNDATIONAL PACKAGE

for when your idea is not fully formed or your draft just isn’t working and you want real-time support

Make sure your foundation is strong so you can write forward or revise with confidence.

You’ll drill down into the most important elements that will drive your novel—the structure, character development, cause-and-effect trajectory, pacing and flow—and prepare you to get your draft or revision done.

We’ll do research, writing exercises, mind mapping, brainstorming, and—yes—some outlining. Some materials are adapted from Author Accelerator’s Blueprint for a Book and Inside Outline, which I am certified to teach.

Included:

  • We’ll meet for 45 minutes and decide what our plan for your package will be, based on your needs, goals, time, and energy level.

  • You will have targeted “homework” in between our calls.

You can hand in work every week or every other week, depending on our call schedules and your accountability needs.

  • These can be weekly or every other week.

This is where a lot of the magic happens!!

I typically use Zoom (cameras optional). But if that does not work for you, we can make other arrangements.

You’ll also receive a transcript, audio recording, and video recording (if applicable) of all of our calls for you to refer back to later.

  • I will review your pages and make inline/annotated edits and write an editorial summary.

I point out both your strengths and areas you could improve, and give you honest, specific, targeted feedback.

  • You will always get a personalized list of next steps so you know exactly what you need to do to write forward for your next deadline…and to The End.

  • With so many great books, courses, and websites out there about craft, it can be difficult to find the right ones for where you are. I will parse out the best resources tailored to you, so you will grow as a writer as your manuscript grows.

I also recognize everyone has a unique learning style and our brains all process information differently, so we will discuss what works best for you. This can mean videos or podcasts instead of books/articles, etc.

  • If you have questions or concerns in between deadlines, you can reach out via email. I never want you to feel alone or stuck!

1:1 COACHING

for when you need someone working with you in real time focused on you and your story and your goals

You’ll get real-time, honest and empathetic feedback and support. We’ll squash that self-doubt and strengthen your craft so you can write confidently, and FINISH that draft or revision. And we’ll do it in a way that works for you, wherever you are in your writing journey.

First, we will come up with a plan that helps you meet your goals. We will decide how often your deadlines will be, and what they will consist of. Every person is different, so every plan is different. Our brains all process information differently, so we’ll work together to figure out what works best for you (especially us neurodivergent folks!), and adjust along the way if we need to.

Included:

  • We’ll meet for 45 minutes and decide what our plan for your package will be, based on your needs, goals, time, and energy level.

  • You will have targeted “homework” in between our calls. This might be writing forward on your pages, or doing more character work.

You can hand in 10 pages every week or 20 pages every other week, depending on our call schedules and your needs.

  • These can be weekly or every other week.

I typically use Zoom (cameras optional) so we can share screens. But if that does not work for you, we can make other arrangements.

With Zoom, you’ll also receive a transcript, audio recording, and video recording (if applicable) of all of our calls for you to refer back to later.

  • I will review your pages and make inline/annotated edits and write an editorial summary.

I point out both your strengths and areas you could improve, and give you honest, specific, targeted feedback.
